Column filters

Column filters have existed in the plugin since version 3.1.

In a Ninox table view, Ninext shows the filters set on the columns: one chip per filtered column, in the view's bar, recalls the filter and lets you remove it with one click.

The feature is offered to all users of the database, not only to administrators. It is on by default.

The chips

In Ninox, a column's filter is set in that column's menu, which opens with a click on its header. For each filtered column, Ninext adds a chip in the view's bar:

  • it shows a filter icon, then "Column: value", that is, the column's title and the filter applied; dates, times and choices are written in the field's format;
  • a click on the chip opens the column's menu, to change the filter;
  • its cross removes the filter, and the view updates immediately.

When space runs short, the chips overlap, and the one under the mouse pointer comes to the front. A text that is too long ends with an ellipsis.

When a text is typed in the view's search box, Ninext frames that box in the same color as the chips: it thus reminds you that a search, too, restricts the records displayed.

Turning the chips off

The chips can be turned off in the Ninext Settings, "UI Enhancements" section: Column filters on table view. Only an administrator can change this setting, which applies to all users of the database.
