Copy, paste, duplicate & delete

You can use the following key-combinations to copy fields including all properties (formatting and scripts). They also work for layout elements, a button for example.

These shortcuts only work in Ninox's edit mode ("Edit mode"), hence for administrators, and never while you are typing: as long as the cursor is in a text box, the keys keep their usual role.

Ctrl + C (⌘ + C on Mac): Copy the definition of the selected field to the clipboard.

Ctrl + V (⌘ + V on Mac): Insert the previously copied field after the currently selected field. Pasting also works in another table, or in another database (see below).

Ctrl + D (⌘ + D on Mac): Duplicate the selected field, creating a copy right behind the copied field.

Delete (⌫ on Mac): Delete the selected field. Ninext opens Ninox's deletion confirmation ("Delete field"); if you confirm with "Delete", the field is deleted along with all its data.

Pasting into another table or another database

Ninext recreates the field as is: it does not adapt its code. Formulas refer to fields by their internal identifier; in another table, these identifiers may refer to other fields, or to none. So read through each formula of the pasted field and adapt it by hand.

To help you, when the pasted field comes from another table or another database and carries scripts, Ninext first asks a question, in a "Code duplication" window: should a copy of its original script be added, as a comment, at the top of each formula? If you answer "Yes", each formula starts with a block of this kind, followed by the pasted formula:

Ninox
#{
/****** SCRIPT COPIED FROM 'My Database'.Customer.'Full Name'******

ORIGINAL SCRIPT :
'First Name' + " " + 'Last Name'

*****************************/
}#;

This comment takes the form of a Native JS block that contains nothing but a JavaScript comment. If you answer "No", the field is pasted without adding anything.

What is not copied

A link field to another table can be neither copied nor duplicated: Ninext displays "It is not possible to copy a link to another table".

These shortcuts, deletion included, can be turned off in the Ninext Settings, "Additional Tools" section: Fields Copy/Paste/Duplicate (on by default).
