Ninext Settings
The Ninext Settings have existed since version 3.0. The gear that opens them from the Ninext panel, the collapsible sections, the "Ninext server" section and four settings (Formula profiler, Schema navigation history, Visited records history, Viewing threshold) arrive with version 3.2.0 (beta).
The Ninext Settings gather Ninext's switches: one for each tab of the panel, and one for most of what Ninext adds to Ninox's forms, views and formulas. All of them are on by default, except access to the Ninext server (see below).

Opening the Settings
In "Edit mode", open the Ninext panel and hover over the version number, at the far right of its header: a gear appears on top of it. Clicking the gear asks Ninox to open the plugin's settings, titled Ninext Settings and followed by the version number.
How they apply
- A change applies immediately, without a "Save" button: turning a tool on starts it, turning it off stops it.
- Only an administrator can save a change.
- The settings are saved in the database itself, in the plugin's entry, like the views of the Schema Overview. They therefore apply to all the database's users, on all their computers.
- Under each setting, a sentence recalls what it does.
- Each section collapses or expands with a click on its title. That state is remembered by your browser, not by the database.
Switching from the stable version to the beta, or back: since the settings are stored in the plugin's entry, uninstalling "Ninext v3" to install "Ninext v3 Beta" (or the other way round) can reset them to their default values, and erase the Schema Overview views. Write down your settings before changing versions.
Language
Ninext is displayed in Ninox's language when it knows it: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese. For any other language, it is displayed in English. There is therefore no language setting.
Script Manager
Section reserved for administrators: it controls the tabs of the Ninext panel.
| Setting | Default | For whom | What it controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fields Inspector | on | administrators | The Fields & Formulas tab, and the badges in the "Edit fields" window (Edit field). |
| Code Finder | on | administrators | The Code Finder tab. |
| Debug Tracer | on | administrators | The Debug Tracer tab. |
| Formula profiler | on | administrators | The Profiler tab. |
| Errors Viewer | on | administrators | The Errors tab. |
| Console | on | administrators | The Console tab. |
Four settings do not bear exactly the name of their tab: Fields Inspector for Fields & Formulas, Formula profiler for Profiler, Errors Viewer for Errors and, further down, Interactive Helper for Function Help.
JavaScript Integration
| Setting | Default | For whom | What it controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native JavaScript | on | all | The #{ … }# JavaScript blocks in formulas (Native JS). |
UI Enhancements
| Setting | Default | For whom | What it controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Badge on files & comments | on | all | The badges on the Files and Comments tabs, and the customization of tabs through their onUpdate function (title, colors, tooltip, badge). |
| Column filters on table view | on | all | The chips that show the column filters of table views. |
| View Events (onClick, onSelect) | on | all | The view events described in View field event. |
| Button Events (onUpdate) | on | all | The onUpdate function of buttons (Button event). |
| Schema navigation history (administrators) | on | administrators | The footprints icon in the Ninext panel's header: the last fields and functions visited (Fields & Formulas). |
| Visited records history (all users) | on | all | The Visited records button in Ninox's bar. |
| Viewing threshold (seconds) | 8 | all | How long a record must stay displayed to enter the Visited records, from 3 to 60 seconds. |
Additional Tools
Section reserved for administrators.
| Setting | Default | For whom | What it controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Schema Overview | on | administrators | The Schema Overview tab. |
| Interactive Helper | on | administrators | The Function Help tab, and the syntax tooltip in Ninox's script editors. |
| Fields Copy/Paste/Duplicate | on | administrators | The keyboard shortcuts that copy, paste, duplicate and delete a field of a form (Copy, paste, duplicate & delete). |
| Dependency badge on hover | on | administrators | The badge that appears when you hover over a field, in forms (Fields & Formulas). |
| Fields editor responsive layout | on | administrators | Keeps some Ninox windows from sliding under the Ninext panel: "Edit fields", the print window, and the find-and-replace window of the code editors (Ctrl + F, ⌘ + F on Mac) (Edit field). With a Ninox version earlier than 3.19.2, it also places open records on top of one another. It is a temporary fix, to be turned off once Ninox handles this placement itself. |
Ninext server
This section, reserved for administrators, controls the connection to the ninext.fr server, on which the schema history, real-time presence, the AI assistant and AI tasks depend. In the 3.2.0 beta, it is visible but grayed out and locked: the Ninext server access switch stays off, with the note "Not available in this beta: we don’t hand out access tokens for the ninext.fr server yet."

What no setting turns off
In Ninox's script editors, Ninext adds for administrators the underlining of errors and warnings as you type, the highlighting of the occurrences of the selected word, and the Format code and Debug in the Console buttons (see Errors and Console). No setting removes them: turning off Errors Viewer removes the Errors tab, not the underlining. Only the syntax tooltip depends on a setting, Interactive Helper.
