Update history
Version 3.2.0 (beta) dated 25 September 2026, republished on 27 September
This version is published as a beta, under the "Ninext v3 Beta" plugin. If you already use it, click the plugin's Update button; otherwise, uninstall "Ninext v3", then install "Ninext v3 Beta". The stable version remains 3.1.2.
The features that rely on the ninext.fr server (AI assistant, AI tasks, real-time presence, schema history) already appear in the Ninext Settings and in the Function Help, but stay switched off for now: in this beta, the Ninext server access switch is grayed out.
New features
A step-by-step debugger in the Console
where : Console
The green Run button offers three modes through its chevron: Run, Replay and Step by step. In step-by-step mode, you follow your code one instruction at a time: breakpoints (conditional if needed), sub-steps, stepping into functions and into schema formulas, the value and type of every variable at each step. From the Ninox code editor, the Debug in the Console button takes your code there. Details: Console.
A replay debugger
where : Console
The code runs only once, in one go; you then walk through its execution forwards and backwards, without running it again.
A formula profiler
where : Profiler tab
The new tab records formula evaluations and shows them as a timeline and as a table: durations, number of calls, call chains. You finally see where the time goes. Details: Profiler.
A "Check" button
where : Console
Check compiles your code without running it — no effect on your data — then formats it, or underlines every error. It also applies Ninext's own checks: code that cannot run on the server side, JavaScript syntax of native blocks, HTML and CSS passed to html().
One-click code formatting
where : Console and Ninox script editors
A Format code button tidies up your code — indentation, spaces around operators, field names written the way Ninox displays them — without running it. The JavaScript of native blocks #{ … }# is formatted too. Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + F (⌘ + Shift + F on Mac), in the Console as in Ninox's editors.
Errors flagged as you type
where : Ninox code editors
Errors and warnings are underlined as you type in Ninox's own editors (large formula editor, field panel), not only in the Console: a red squiggle for an error, an amber dotted line for a warning; hovering the underlined passage explains it. Occurrences of the selected word are highlighted. Details: Errors.
JavaScript autocompletion in native blocks
where : Console
Inside a #{ … }# block, the Console offers the same typing help as the browser console, adapted to what the block actually receives: Ninox variables and parameters in their JavaScript form, ui, database, callback, and object members after a dot.
The Errors tab, completely redesigned
where : Errors tab
The whole database is analyzed by a new analyzer, transcribed from Ninox's own: what it reports matches what Ninox would say. It adds warnings (variables never read, code that has no effect where it runs…), checks embedded JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and spots dead code. A filter panel, which counts the diagnostics of each type, lets you choose what is displayed, and every line takes you straight to the code involved. The analysis runs in the background. Details: Errors.
Visited records history, for all users
where : Ninox bar
A footprints button opens the list of recently visited records, and reopens them through the same path, even deep inside subtables. Details: Visited records.
Improvements
More readable results
where : Console, debuggers, Debug Tracer
- Returned records are rendered as in Ninox views: conditional formatting, photo thumbnails, color chips, column widths. The view tabs follow Ninox's order and hide the views you are not allowed to see.
- A single value tree serves the Console, the debuggers and the Debug Tracer: every value can be copied, and a record opens with one click.
- A text longer than 100,000 characters is displayed instantly, truncated, with Show all on demand.
Your work follows you
where : Console
On startup, the Console brings back your last code with its breakpoints. For an administrator, this work and the code history also follow from one computer to another. Code taken from the history is rebuilt in Ninox's current language, a history line can be deleted with one click, and a Copy button appears when you hover the editor.
More reliable navigation
where : Ninext's links to your code
- The global code and the "After Open" trigger open on the first click.
- From the dependency trees, "Fx" or the red key of a global function opens the global code editor.
- The "Display only if" formulas of tabs can be reached.
- The breadcrumb opens the editor of the right table.
- In a breadcrumb, the formula part of a conditional formatting rule opens the editor of that rule.
- An open report is closed before another one opens.
- The targeted field is centered on screen, and an item from another database shows a message instead of an endless wait.
And also
- Native JS: typed arrays
:array(type), and typing help for annotations in the Console. Details: Native JS. - Dependency tree: global functions can be expanded, and same-named columns from different views are no longer merged into a single cell.
- Ninext Settings: collapsible sections (their state is remembered); the gear that opens the settings appears when you hover the version number, at the end of the icon row.
- Ninext's confirmations and messages now use Ninox's dialog boxes instead of the browser's.
- A … button on every tab bar that is too long lists the hidden tabs.
- Translations: 106 texts that were shown in English are now translated.
Bug fixes
False errors on a formula field
In some databases whose "After Open" trigger uses onNinextLoaded, a formula field could show errors such as "Expression does not return a record" for the whole session, even though its formula was correct and the server computed it without any problem. This is fixed.
The "After Open" trigger run twice
where : "After Open" trigger
To call onNinextLoaded, Ninext evaluated the whole "After Open" trigger again: statements placed outside a function — a message, creating a record — ran a second time. Ninext now only evaluates its declarations again. Details: Native JS.
"%20" sequences that vanished
where : Console, button functions, badges, onclick, ninext.callNinoxFunction
Ninext silently decoded the "%XX" sequences of the code it evaluates: an address …/mon%20fichier.pdf became …/mon fichier.pdf. Code is now evaluated exactly as you wrote it.
Calling a Ninox function from JavaScript
where : Native JS
A call to ninext.callNinoxFunction that passed an object failed as soon as a value contained a double quote or a line break. These values now go through without any problem, accents and emojis included.
Other fixes
- While you were typing, an error's tooltip could hide the autocompletion list: the list now has priority.
- The Fields & Formulas list and the dependency tree did not count dependencies the same way: the numbers now match.
- The hover badge showed "0" for a field used only by prints, views or table scripts.
- The badge in Ninox's "Edit fields" window always selected the table's last field.
- The bottom of the Ninext tabs was cut off in Ninox's extensions pane.
- The Schema Overview menus open immediately, and their search ignores accents.
- The "Show more" button of long lists seemed to do nothing: it is replaced, at the bottom of the list, by two buttons, +100 and All (N).
- The Enter key did not start the Code Finder search: it now does, and Esc discards what you typed.
- The messages of Ninext's own checks (code that cannot run on the server side, variable never read, unresolved reference, stale errors, annotations of
#{ … }#blocks) were displayed in French whatever Ninox's language: they are translated into the 10 languages, in the Errors tab, the Console and the editors' underlining. - Ninext wrote debug messages to the browser console and kept an archive in memory that grew throughout the session.
Version 3.1.2 dated 9 July 2026
Stable version that closes the 3.1 cycle: it brings together the new features of the 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 betas, detailed below, and adds the following fixes, offered as a beta on 26 June 2026.
Bug fixes
100% CPU
where : dependency tree
A dependency-tree process kept running once the panel was hidden, and could max out the CPU with no interaction at all. This is fixed.
Field deletion while typing
In admin mode, pressing Delete or Backspace while typing text could open the delete confirmation window for the selected field. The key is now used only to edit the text.
Duplicate dependencies
Each dependency now appears only once in a field's list.
A dependency tree that no longer "jumps"
When it updates, the tree keeps the zoom and position; when you switch fields, the field is re-centered.
Improvements
Lists open ten times faster
On large databases, the first display of the lists (tables, fields, expressions) could freeze the interface for one to two seconds. It is now about ten times faster.
Version 3.1.1 (beta) dated 11 June 2026
Improvements
Ninext function help in 10 languages
where : Function Help
The help for Ninext-specific functions is available in 10 languages and automatically follows your Ninox language, without reloading the plugin.
The "After Open" trigger in Fields & Formulas
The database's "After Open" trigger appears as a dedicated entry at the top of the Fields & Formulas list, next to the global functions. Its content is analyzed: you find it in the Code Finder and in the dependency tree.
Dependency tree: the direct parent highlighted
In multi-level trees, each cell highlights the name of its direct parent, instead of always highlighting the central field.
Console: date and time of each result
Each result shows its full date and time, next to the execution time. The information is kept after the database is reloaded.
Reworked navigation history
The history moves from back / forward buttons to a list of the most recently used fields, opened by a single button: each visited field moves to the bottom of the list, with no duplicates, and clicking an entry selects the field and highlights it.
Bug fixes
More reliable Errors tab
No more false errors at startup (NativeJS formulas #{ … }# wrongly flagged), and an error counter always in sync with the list.
Custom buttons (onUpdate)
A button's caption, color and badge are applied again when your onUpdate function does asynchronous work.
View click (onclick)
An asynchronous onclick no longer triggers the selection twice: the decision is entirely up to your code.
Help page
No more horizontal overflow; code blocks and examples render cleanly.
Version 3.1.0 (beta) dated 2 June 2026
New features
An interactive console
where : Console tab
Write Ninox code and run it on the fly, in the context of your choice: none, the record open in Ninox, a record you pick, or the record returned by a formula. Syntax highlighting, autocompletion, a history of the last 50 commands, results as a raw value, as a tree or as a record table. Details: Console.
A visual and interactive dependency tree
where : Fields & Formulas, and when hovering a field
Downstream dependencies (which formulas depend on a field) and upstream ones (which fields feed a formula); clusters you can drag with the mouse, remembered positions, level bands, fullscreen, copy as an image. Details: Fields & Formulas.
An information badge on field hover
where : Ninox forms, in admin mode
When you hover a field, a badge gives its type, its full formula (a click opens the formula editor), a key that opens the field's edit window, and the counter of its dependencies (on hover, a preview of the tree; on click, the selection in Fields & Formulas).
Print reports analyzed
where : Code Finder, dependency tree
Print reports are analyzed like field formulas: templates with formulas in braces, generated HTML blocks, revision columns, image fields with a formula, Carbone data sources.
Field navigation history
where : Ninext panel header
An icon opens the list of the fields visited through Ninext, up to 50 entries over the day, reports, global functions and the "After Open" trigger included.
Code Finder: history and preferences
The last 20 searches in a dropdown menu; remembered options (regular expressions, case, whole words); results in batches of 100. Details: Code Finder.
External databases
Fields and tables from other databases of the same team appear in the Fields & Formulas list and in the dependency tree, with a dedicated icon.
The onNinextLoaded entry point
where : "After Open" trigger
If you define an onNinextLoaded(event) function in the "After Open" trigger, Ninext calls it once it is truly loaded and passes you its version through event.version. Details: Native JS.
Improvements
- Schema Overview: menus anchored to their buttons, a search that shows the matched characters in bold, a complete image copy of the schema (all tables and all links, in full resolution).
- "Fx" icon identical on every screen, and visible in image copies.
- Fields & Formulas: two sub-tabs, the list and the dependency tree, remembered per database.
- Column filters on table views: field name and applied value, regional date and time formats.
- Tooltips: reliable closing, and always fully visible on screen.
- Translations: more than 120 labels added in the 10 languages.
Bug fixes
- For non-admin users, formulas that go through a reverse link to the parent table stayed empty at startup. This is fixed.
- Calls to global functions from JavaScript code are possible again.
- Ninext panels no longer overflow onto the field editor, the stacked formula windows, or Ninox's search and replace window.
- Schema Overview: cardinality symbols no longer cover the arrows, and links are no longer offset after a zoom change.
- Errors tab: no more offset between the messages and the items concerned.
Version 3.0.5 dated 2 April 2026
Improvements
Admin / standard user distinction
where : Ninext panel
Modules reserved for administrators (script management, field operations, additional tools, etc.) are no longer loaded for non-admin users. This improves loading performance and avoids displaying inaccessible features.
Bug fixes
Error when executing certain select queries
where : Native JS
A bug could cause the code to stop in some cases, particularly when executing certain where clauses in select statements. This issue is fixed.
Unwanted alert for non-admin users
where : Settings
When the schema was modified in another session, saving settings triggered an alert for all connected non-admin users. Settings saving is now restricted to administrators.

Unnecessary saves in Schema Overview
where : Fields & Fx → Schema Overview
Saves were triggered even without any real change (schema refresh, switching to the same view, etc.). The system now compares the state before saving and ignores calls without modifications.
Version 3.0.4 dated 12 March 2026
Bug fixes
Crash with certain global function names
When a global function had the same name as a native JavaScript Array.prototype method (filter, map, find, first, keys, etc.), it caused a crash that prevented the Fields & Fx tab from displaying. This issue is now fixed.
Version 3.0.3 dated 9 March 2026
Bug fixes
Fixed Fields & Fx display
Some fields could cause an error preventing the complete display of the Fields & Fx tab. This occurred when a field had an empty internal name (null caption), particularly for some visual elements or system fields.
Improvements
Duplicate identifier detection
The Errors tab now detects tables containing fields that share the same internal identifier (for example, an input field and a visual element with the same ID). These duplicates cause unpredictable behavior in formulas and scripts. The affected fields are listed with their dependencies in a collapsible section.
Compilation error messages display
where : Errors tab
The Errors tab now displays compilation error messages, instead of simply indicating the line containing the error.
Version 3.0.2 dated 7 March 2026
Bug fixes
Fields & Fx tab did not display with duplicate identifiers
When an input field and a visual element (button, title, separator, etc.) had the same identifier in the same table, the Fields & Fx tab refused to display. This issue is fixed.
Direct access to fields from Ninox editor
where : Ninext panel
Badges are now clickable: when you are in the Ninox field editing window, clicking on a Ninext badge automatically opens the Ninext panel on the Fields & Fx tab and selects the corresponding field. No more manual navigation in Ninext to find a field — a single click is all it takes.
Improvements
Complete isolation from Ninox
Ninext no longer accesses Ninox internal objects through indirect paths. All communications now go through the official channel provided by the Ninox plugin API. In practice, this means less risk of interference between Ninext and future Ninox updates — and therefore better stability over time.
Version 3.0.1 dated 28 January 2026
Improvements
Version number displayed
The version number is now displayed in the icon bar of the Ninext panel.

Better sized dropdown menus
Dropdown lists (table selection, fields, etc.) now adapt to the actual height of the Ninext panel, instead of overflowing at the bottom of the screen. They use 80% of the available space in the panel, which is particularly useful on smaller screens or when the panel is in partial mode.
Bug fixes
Stable panel display
An issue could cause the Ninext panel content to overflow beyond its area, causing unwanted scrollbars or visual offset. This issue is fixed: the panel now occupies exactly the space allocated by Ninox.
